Our Mission

Being on mission is the vision of the ministry of Zion’s Cause.  We do not “do” mission work.  We are a church of missionaries called into the mission of God.  We believe the Bible explains our mission in four words:

Forward

As great as the past has been at ZCBC, we must move forward. In Exodus 14:13-15, God told Moses: “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord… The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent.” A church that stops moving forward becomes stagnant. We must walk in faith, trusting God’s plan, knowing that “God’s got this!” Nothing surprises Him. Trust Him and keep moving forward with faith and confidence.

Upward

As we move forward, we must also look upward. Christ is our strength. Hebrews 12:2 reminds us: “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith.” True direction comes from above. We must recognize who we are, who we belong to, and submit to Him. John the Baptist declared, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” Looking upward keeps our hearts aligned with His purpose, ensuring we rely on Him rather than ourselves.

As we move forward we also need to look upward. Christ is the source of our strength. While the world is focusing on a lower level, Christ is exalted above all.

Inward

Acts 2:42 describes the early church: “They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer.” Spiritual growth is an inward necessity. The Apostles discipled, fellowshipped, and prayed with believers, building a strong foundation. Their devotion brought amazement and wonder as they saw God at work. When we grow inwardly, we strengthen the body of Christ and prepare to serve outwardly.

Outward

Jesus commands us in the Great Commission to go. The church cannot keep the message inside—it must be shared. Even on the cross, Jesus showed an outward focus: •Outward Love – “Father, forgive them.” (Luke 23:34) •Outward Need – “Behold, your mother!” (John 19:26-27) •Outward Witness – “Today you shall be with Me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43) We are called to love, serve, and share His gospel so others may know Him.
